The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is one of the grand scientific projects of the 21st Century.
It will be the largest radio telescope in the world when completed in 2028.
Split across South Africa and Australia, with a headquarters in the UK, the facility will address the biggest questions in astrophysics.
It will perform the most precise tests of Einstein’s theories, and even search for extra-terrestrials.

radio?any broadcast from bbc will reach to nearest universe
I'm curious about how this project will evolve.
The last huge project I followed for some time was ALMA in Chile – the ALMA correlator ( the computer processing the signals ) has about 124 Million CPUs.
Can anyone imagine this scale?
What a wonderful idea! Let's spend probably $Billions of probably tax payers money searching into the unknown when MILLIONS are already starving to death on this planet Earth to which we are all unquestioningly helping to destroy through our addiction to greeeed!!
Bbc is so dumb that it does not distinguish a radio-telescope from telescope????
What's the carbon footprint? Climate doesn't matter today then?
Very good detailed information
Most of the time humanity dissappoints. Then, we have great things like this
We are listening to the universe and China…….
phenomenal attainment for the team. hope, it would be successful and indisputably, it would leap the pace of scientific scrutiny.
Woohoo.

News about space stuff is funny, as most of us don't understand anything about what they talk about. Like, when news about a picture of a star or whatnot is announced, most ppl think in the direction of what you see in a movie, or that the picture is like gonna be very close or whatever. When the picture though; it's just gonna be d dot or something, haha, and we get so disappointed.
Man I'd LOVE to get a job on the construction team!
"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." Jesus Christ
We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God..
Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.
Hi, I'm an operator too! Just wanted to swing by and send you some motivation to keep going! Check mine out, if you have a moment.
I ground and built my own 8" (200mm) mirror telescope. It's very far from perfect but I was able to see 2 ladybirds being 'naughty' at around 120m. Unfortunately a train went past their tree and put the old fella off his stroke so to speak. However when I made the moon stay in frame for a few seconds I did find Cavour talking to the natives. (Firts Men In The Moon).
