On July 22, Daniel Wanyonyi avenged himself against Karim Mandonga ‘Mtu Kazi’ in a non-title middleweight boxing match.

Wanyonyi defeated his Tanzanian opponent by unanimous decision in the fight, which took place at the Sarit Centre Expo.

Six months after losing the first fight, Kenya’s Daniel Wanyonyi exacted his revenge on Tanzania’s Karim Mandonga ‘Mtu Kazi’ by twice knocking him down in their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday night at the Sarit Expo Centre before winning by unanimous decision.

The former Africa Boxing Union champion made his intentions clear from the fourth round on, putting the Tanzanian boxing internet star to the canvas in the sixth and tenth rounds to claim victory.

Judges George Athumani, Wycliffe Marende, and Leonard Wanga all scored 100-88, 100-88, and 100-80, respectively, to grant Wanyonyi his vengeance.

“This victory means a lot to me because it means I’m not only back, but I’m much better than I was before.” When I initially met Mandonga, I had not trained properly. He saw what I was made of, and I want a rematch to educate him more,” Wanyonyi stated after his triumph.

“Wanyonyi was the better boxer tonight, and congratulations on a well-deserved win.” Remember, I knocked him out and he decided unanimously. “He will never knock me out,” Mandonga charged, calling for a third fight between the two fighters.

Mandonga had won the first round in January via a TKO decision in the fifth round, therefore the bout was much anticipated. The brash 39-year-old had promised to thrash Wanyonyi once more.

The Kenyan, on the other hand, triumphed, knocking out Mandonga in the sixth and tenth rounds. The judges unanimously decided to call the tie in favor of Wanyonyi.
